Special Children in Need
Fun Night

raises over £500

A Special Children in Need Fun Night at Scarborough Bowls Centre on Saturday 10th November raised over £500 for this worthwhile charity. A group of under 5's from the Skylark Nursery in Scarborough opened the events with a
concert ably assisted by members of staff from the Nursery. Other attractions were face painting, a tombola, guess the number of sweets in the jar, lucky strings and a host of activities to test both your skill and luck.
A Children's Fancy Dress Competition proved to be very popular with the appearance of some extremely imaginative and clever costumes. The judges, Chris and Debbie Burton had the unenviable task of chosing the winners. Pictured below are Lewis Winter who came first dressed as a robot with Jack Parkes making a lovely clown coming second and Louisa Emms being awarded third prize for her Dennis the Menace.
Pudsey Bear was warmly welcomed when he made a guest appearance with his friend the Clown.

Then strangely dressed men and women with very spotty faces and costumes took to the green for a fun Men's vs Ladies Fun Bowls match. Each player paid a special fee to enter the competition with fines being imposed throughout the game for such misdemeanours as touching the jack, killing an end and other special rules unknown in a normal

game of bowls. Even the photographer was 'fined' for not wearing something spotty.!!
A 'Yellow' quiz then challenged everyone with all the answers linked to the colour yellow or teddy bears.

This very successful evening was organised by Paul Buchanan, with help from Leanne Mouser and the staff of the Skylark Nursery. Mike Preston did a wonderful job of compering the fun Bowls Match.
