To all the men of Scarborough Indoor Bowls Club:

When I was asked to take on the role of Men’s Captain, which I accepted, I knew that this would be a difficult season for us. The issue was that the club had entered two teams, one for Div 1 and one for Div 3, I knew that this would be hard to achieve as we had a number of members who had left the club, which reduced the number of available players, this was proved to be correct when a notice was put on the notice board asking who was interested, and only 29 expressed an interest. As a result I had no choice but to withdraw from one division, and due to County rules this had to be Div 3. This created further problems as most of the interested players were in fact Div 3 players, this put our teams at a disadvantage.

However I must say the men turned out and played the games, and despite heavy losses most of them continued to play and support our club.

I would like to express my sincere thanks to these men who played in these games and never gave up, they are a credit to our club. In addition I would like to thank the youngsters who also nominated, took part and continued to do so throughout the season, all of these people have shown true sportsmanship and commitment, and I am proud to have served them through this season as Men’s Captain, indeed I believe the club should be proud of them.

I would also like to thank Peter Brooks who has looked after the teams at their home games and done all the marking for us, he has done a great job for us.
